“What sticks to memory, often, are those odd little fragments that have no beginning and no end...”

Risked Everything for an Uncertain Future

U.S. Counterparts

Frequently embedded with U.S. Troops, these native allies served as translators, navigators,

and fixers for regular units and Special Operations.

These allies were often mistreated by jaded regular American 'big army' units that seldom interacted with non-combatant Vietnamese.

Civilians of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia

War's Biggest Losers

A quiet rule persists throughout history: Civilians suffer as much as any combatant. Some 500,000 civilians died in Vietnam alone between 1965-1974. At the least, another 270,000 and 60,000 civilians died in Cambodia and Laos, respectively.

From the carnal horrors, misery, and suffering of war, to the unexpected glimmers of humanity and hope, your experience is too valuable to be forgotten.

Time Heals Old Wounds

NVA, Vietcong

Years turn to decades, hate turns to wisdom.

When the rage of battle fades away, and all that is left are memories, the inhuman facade of an enemy melts away too. All that are left are brothers and friends.

Beyond the Iron Curtain

Foreign Communist Powers

Just as the United States backed South Vietnam, so too was the communist North sustained by precious aid supplied by the Soviet Union and Vietnam's northern neighbor, the People's Republic of China.

Assistance was dispatched in the form of money, materiel, medical equipment, and military and industrial advisors.
